Hello angels! Welcome back and I hope you’ve had a lovelyyyy week.
Life in the present day is unfortunately a whirlwind; it’s busy and it’s complicated. I find that lifestyles now are SO consumed and it’s extremely easy to feel that sense of overwhelm. Feeling overwhelmed is one of the worst feelings in my opinion- because in that moment, things just feel too much and you end up wanting to do absolutely NOTHING.
Today’s mentality surrounding busyness and schedules is so unhealthy…it’s almost as if you need to be working full time, extra hours and having a side business to be considered as being busy. Even I feel that guilt sometimes- if my diary isn’t full, it makes me wonder why I’m not being productive and why I’m wasting my own time. WELL THIS IS NOT THE CASE. You do not have to be working overtime, along with having a family of your own to look after and other things going on at the same time to have ‘a lot on your plate’. I feel like there’s too much comparison nowadays between what’s considered ‘too busy’…and I think it sucks.
You, yourself, can feel overwhelmed at any point in your life. A small thing can tip that feeling over, and that’s okay. I’m sure many people (like myself) think things such as “well, I don’t have a job working 40+ hours a week and children to look after, maybe I shouldn’t feel as overwhelmed as I do right now”. This is the shit I hate. Sure, people DO have it worse and that’s inevitable in life, but you should never feel guilty for feeling like things are getting a tad too much. For example, I didn’t write a blog post last week. I felt too overwhelmed with my own thoughts and in my head, I had too much to think about. Now, I probably didn’t have that much going on if you put it down onto a list but it’s how I felt and that’s perfectly fine.
Want to avoid that dreaded overwhelm? Carry on reading!!!
Tip one: Focus on one thing at a time. I keep a rule with myself to only focus on a few things a day. For example: if I’m at work that day, I’ll just put my energy into work and then maybe a blog post in the evening. If it’s my day off, I may focus on my network marketing business throughout the day, but then my blog in the evening. Never try and do too many things at once, otherwise you’ll probably end up doing NOTHING! That leads to my next point…
Tip two: Procrastination is your enemy if you’re somebody who gets overwhelmed easily. Because during that time, you’re going to be overthinking all of those tasks and just not want to do anything. That then leads to more procrastination…see the cycle?
Tip three: Always do what makes you happy. Easier said than done, especially if you’re not so keen on your job or where you are within your life at the moment. But always make sure that everything that you do on the sidelines are enjoyable to you and do not add any stress to your mind.
Tip four: Bloody relax! I need to practice what I preach here because I’m probably the least relaxed person on earth if I’m being honest. Just use that time in the evening where you’re chilling on the sofa whilst watching a film to unwind and clear your mind. Try not to think about anything else, absolutely nothing. I’m so guilty for overthinking everything when I’m meant to be chilling the f*ck out- stop now!
I written this post because I have been feeling particularly overwhelmed this past week. Things do get on top of you, especially if you give yourself too much to think about. Sometimes you feel you NEED to be busy, but it is honestly not the case. You do not have to answer to anybody, do what makes you a happy human.
I hope you all have a lovely week and I’ll see you soon!
