Hey hey everyone!
So I’m actually doing what I said I was gonna do (SHOCK) and I’m writing again. Woo. I wanted to keep on a topic that has a lot to do with my own life right now, which is business. Now okay, this post may be a lil more ‘niche’ than usual, but I like to write about what I like to write about…you feel me? And today I felt like giving my tips and tricks on how to stay CONSISTENT. Which is harder than it seems on paper.
To be honest, consistency doesn’t always have to be business related. It can be anything from being consistent with studying, posting on social media when you’re trying to build a name for yourself on the web, blogging (oops) and all that jazz. In my case right now, it’s a matter of staying consistent with my job. It’s bloody important for me to keep this consistency because I now rely on MYSELF. No work? No money. So I’ve had to teach myself discipline, although I’ve had some amazing training on it through my business.
I stray away from popping my feet up with a hot choc and sticking a film on at 2pm on a Tuesday, or taking a ‘quick’ nap at 3pm on a Thursday…I’d lose my routine completely. Now I’m not saying you shouldn’t take you time, I’m all about that. I’m just saying there’s a difference between spending hours procrastinating, not being productive and then having some self care time. I’d go CRAZY without my ‘me time’ watching some YouTube before I go to bed.
Right so I’ve ranted on enough, let’s get down to it. What do I do to stay consistent? It doesn’t just come to me, I have to use a few tools and good pens to help. Firstly PLANNING THE NEXT DAY IN ADVANCE. I’d be so lost if I didn’t do this. Every night before bed, I’ll sit and write down everything I must get done within the day…MUST. I’ll then tick it off throughout the day and feel like goooood sense of completion, yano that feeling? Here’s an example:
Next! SETTING ALARMS. This is something I’ve started to do recently and oh my goodness it helps. This will be different for everybody as to what they set their alarm for, for example, yours might be ‘UNI: READ CHAPTER 7-11 BITCH’ or ‘INSTA: POST THAT CONTENT HUN’. Whatever you need to do, that awful pinging noise will definitely remind you. Do it daily!
HOLD YOURSELF ACCOUNTABLE. Me and my bestie in my business attempt this…and you know I’m honest, we failed at the accountability tick list in our shared iCloud notes. BUT, it does help when you have someone there that needs to get the same shit done. It’s kind of a motivation if they’re well away with their day and you’re behind, you want to catch up with them. That’s how I feel anyway!
INVEST IN A CORK BOARD, it’ll change your life. Having everything you need to do and think about right in front of you every single day helps a lot. Pin anything and everything, from to do lists, reminders, appointments, information, motivation, ANYTHING to keep you on track.
GET THESE APPS. Now these 2 are very different but both help me so much in consistency! The first one is Planner Pro – this app is basically a glorified calander hehe. It allows you to add notes, tasks and to do lists when you tap on each day, I find it super helpful. I mainly use it for planning my social media posts, as I do that on a Sunday. Boom, just bang them all in there so they’re all in one place! Organisation is the key to consistency.
The other app I use is Headspace. Now you may wonder why I reccomened this app for consistency, as it’s a mental health based app. However, there are SO many meditations and tools on Headspace to help you with things like consistency, productivty, work, perosnal growth…you name it! Honestly, the list is endless. If your mindset is right, you are way more likely to stay on task and remain consistent in your everyday life. Lack of motivation is not what you want to be feeling when you’re wanting to keep a strict routine!
And there you go guys. Those are the main things I do in order to stay consistent, especially with my business!
I hope you all have the best weekend, and I will speak to you very soon.
Love,
Cade
