Hey everyone! I hope you have all had a great week.
For the past few days, I have been thinking a lot about how your state of mind affects the life around you. I read something the other day stating “Creating a healthy mindset is an investment to your overall wellbeing”, and it kind of hit me.
It’s not that I didn’t already know this, but it just reinforced the fact- if I am negative, negative things are GOING TO KEEP HAPPENING. And that is a hard spiral to escape. Trust me, I know, having suffered with my mental health for such a long time.
For example, something bad happens. You then feel sad, natural response! But then another bad thing happens…you start to think things like “wow, my day is getting worse”, “I am now in the worst mood”, and those negative thoughts go flying through your mind like there’s no tomorrow. It’s completely okay to feel these things sometimes, but the problem comes when you cannot escape that mindset. This is why a strong, positive mindset is not only the key to make you feel better, it’s the key to an amazing life.
What you think, you become.
What you feel, you attract.
What you imagine, you create.
And that’s fact!
So, developing a postive mindset is now on your to do list. Stopping negative thoughts is ALSO on your to do list. Here’s how.
Eliminating negative thoughts isn’t easy, but I can give you a few stepping stones on how to start. You gotta start somewhere! So, first things first, you’ve got to learn how to VISUALISE. To completely get rid of negative thoughts, visualising the the thought as an image shrinking until it completely disappears is a great way to combat it. Do this, as well as visualising the POSITIVE outcomes you’d like out of the negativity, or even just what you want out of life will help your mindset massively. Fun fact: your brain actually doesn’t know the difference between reality and imaginary!
Another thing you can do apart from visualisation is changing your daily pattern. Things don’t just go away, you have to take action when shifting your mind into positivity. That could be saying daily affirmations, meditating or reflecting. Meditation and affirmations are my favourite things to do, the difference made after completing these tasks daily is unreal! Mindset podcasts are also a great tool that can be used, Spotify have some amazing ones all in playlists. I do at least 10 minutes of mindset every single day.
You may have noticed, all these things are FREE- shifting your mindset does not cost a penny but positivity is priceless.
So, you’ve not created a more positive mindset for yourself…this doesn’t mean you suddenly turn into the most positive, self loving person in the whole wide world, and that’s okay! But you’ve taken steps to living a way more positive life. What next? You need to KEEP this positivity going, and I’m going to tell you how to do this.
Keep declaring your positivity. That means keep those affirmations going every single day, there’s nothing better than consistency. Positive affirmations basically declares to the world that you’re living a better life, and that you’ll manifest this day in, day out.
The meditation and mindset audios are also great things to carry on doing daily. Again, consistency is key! Another thing you must do in order to strengthen your mindset is to adopt GRATITUDE. What do I mean by this? Focus on what you’re grateful for, instead of placing all worth on the negative things happening. Let’s face it, we’re going to be faced with negativity all the time throughout life BUT, being grateful for what good has happened has a way better energy. You’ll be rewarded for this, honestly.
Self-care is a huge one for me, if you don’t take care of yourself, then how do you expect to live an amazing life? You can’t! In a way, declaring positivity and engaging in mindset activities is a form of self-care in my eyes. Also, let me just add, self-care isn’t just about having a night in with a face mask and a glass of wine (although that does sound rather nice). It’s about not comparing yourself to others, being a little selfish when you need to be and looking after your own WELL-BEING. It’s not all about the the physical.
Finally, I want to remind you all, you are in control of your own life. This means you have to choice to either surround yourself with negativity, or surround yourself with positivity. If you know somebody who literally radiates negativity, try not to spend as much time with this person. If you know somebody who brings your spirits up, SPEND ALL YOUR TIME with that person.
Do you see what I mean? You choose what you surround yourself with, don’t let it be negativity.
